Utah’s Department of Workforce Services has issued the following alert for families on food stamps/SNAP:

The flyer reads:

PUBLIC NOTICE
about the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
SNAP or Food Stamps

The Department of Workforce Services will issue additional SNAP benefits up to the maximum allotment based on your household size for the months of April and May 2020.

This change is due to the current situation with COVID-19 and the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.

• April supplements will be issued on April 26, 2020.

• May supplements will be issued on May 31, 2020.

• Customers not already issued April or May supplements will receive the supplement June 28, 2020.

• Customers who already received the maximum allotment will NOT receive additional SNAP benefits.

Visit jobs.utah.gov/covid19 for more information about available assistance programs related to COVID-19.

Given the pay ranges available in our area, many families with children qualify for SNAP. During the quarantine, many additional families qualify. To apply online, visit: jobs.utah.gov and click on “Assistance,” at top right, and then the “Apply Now” button under “Support Services.”
